Salt Lake Symmetry

For over 3 years, the vibrant pink colours of Hutt Lagoon salt lake mesmerised me. The different formations, patterns and colours made it a place I dreamed of photographing. Being located on the opposite side of Australia, I knew I would have to wait for the right time to make the journey there to photograph it.

As luck would have it, my partner and I decided 2021 would be the perfect year to do van life around Australia. After 6 months of travelling across Australia in a van, the day I had been waiting for was approaching. 

The day before involved lots of planning. What time has the least amount of glare? What is the wind forecast? Is it going to be cloudy? What time should I arrive for best lighting? Are there drone restrictions in that area? These are some of the questions I asked myself to make sure I achieved the photo I had been dreaming of.

On a warm summer morning in Western Australia, and after years of waiting, I was able to fulfil my goal and capture what I would call my Bucket List Shot.
